Bengaluru: In good news for people living in Bengaluru, the Bengalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has extended train services in green, purple, and yellow lines on the New Year’s eve. The step has been taken keeping in mind and safety and convenience of commuters in the city.
Releasing a statement, BMRCL said that the last metro trains on January 1, 2026, from terminals, after th December 31 will depart as follows: The last train from Whitefield to Challaghatta on the Purple Line, will leave at 1.45 am, even as the last train from Challaghatta to Whitefield will leave at 2 am.
Similarly, last trains Madavara towards Silk Institute and from Silk Institute towards Madavara in Green Line will also leve at 2 AM. Same way, on the yellow line, the last train from R V Road towards Bommasandra will leave at 3.10 am. The one from Bommasandra to R V Road it will depart at 1.30 am, the statement added further.
Also, from 11:30 PM onwards on December 31, trains will run at a gap of eight minutes on the Purple line and at 15-inute interval on Yellow line. Until the end of extended time. With the large public gathering expected at the MG Road area, the gates at MG Road Metro Station will be closed for entry and exit from 10 pm on December 31.
As per officials, trains will, however, halt at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations for the boarding and alighting of passengers. Token sales will be discontinued at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations tat 11 pm o prevent long queues at ticket counters. The authorities have advised those travelling from these stations after 11 PM to purchase return journey tickets in advance via QR tickets. They can also use smart cards.
