New Delhi: In an alarming violation of privacy in Bengaluru, a hidden camera was found inside the women’s toilet at Sandhya Theatre. The theatre in question comes under the Madiwala police station limits, and after the incident allegedly came to light, it resulted in panic and outrage among those who go to watch films in theatres in the city.
A screening of the re-released Telugu film Nuvvu Naaku Nachav was taking place when women went to the washroom and spotted the camera. Following that, they alerted others in the theatre, and a ruckus ensued.
According to reports, local people suspected a youth of having done the deed. They caught him and handed him over to the police, but not before assaulting the suspect.
The youth is currently in police custody, where he is reportedly being questioned. The police are probing the motive behind planting the camera there and whether it recorded any video footage. They are investigating the incident and will take more action based on the findings.
A couple of months ago, a spy camera was found in the bathroom of a farmhouse in Panvel in Maharashtra's Raigad district. The accused manager, who was filming women and girls using the bathroom, was arrested, and a case was filed under various sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police found videos of some minor girls on the accused's mobile phone and booked him under sections related to the IT Act, POCSO Act, and broadcasting of obscene material.
