110 flights cancelled at Delhi’s IGI due to low visibility, more than 370 others delayed

New Delhi: As many as 110 flights were cancelled, and over 370 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport due to low visibility and smog on Sunday. As per officials, due to cancellations of flights, 59 arrivals and 51 departures were affected.

According to flightradar24 the flight tracking data showed that more than 370 flights were delayed, the airlines were experiencing delays at the average of 26 minutes. However, despite delays, the operations were running smoothly around noon, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said on X. In recent times. Flight operations in Delhi and other parts of North India have been affected due to fog.

Flight services affected in Srinagar too

Meanwhile, flight services were also affected in Srinagar, where 11 flights were cancelled on Sunday, due to snowfall in high altitude areas and rain in the plains. Two additional flights that were scheduled to fly to Srinagar due to weather conditions in Delhi and Jammu, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said as per PTI. Four flights were on standby at the airport.

Delhi continues to experience high AQI

Amid the increasing cold, the national capital is also experiencing an increase in the Air Quality Index. While the national capital recorded "very poor" category at 386 on Sunday morning, the same recorded 393 AQI (Hazardous) in the evening, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

A total of 16 monitoring stations across the capital recorded "severe" category, while the remaining stations reported "very poor" air across the day. It may be noted that under the norm of the CPCB AQI readings have been classified as "good" between 0 and 50, "satisfactory" from 51 to 100, "moderate" from 101 to 200, "poor" from 201 to 300, "very poor" from 301 to 400, and "severe" between 401 and 500.
