Speaking to Tv9 Telugu, Rachakonda Police Commissioner said that a website audit is underway. "All police websites are running under the supervision of the National Informatics Centre. Rachakonda Police website is not open due to audit. We will restore the website soon.”

The websites began malfunctioning a week ago and citizens who wanted to reach out to the police for public services were repeatedly met with ‘site can’t be reached’ and ‘destination not reachable’ errors indicating gateway failures.

Police officials reach out to Cyber security firm working under NIC:

Senior police officials said that the department’s IT cell first identified the vulnerability and immediately approached a cyber security firm based in Delhi, working under NIC supervision to identify and fix issues. "NIC is working on the backend and the site should be back within a day or two,” officials said.

The disruption comes after Telangana High Court website was hacked. On November 11, the staff at the high court noticed that PDF files at tshc.gov.in were tampered with and were redirecting to a gaming site. High Court registrar then filed a complaint with Hyderabad cyber crime police. The website, also hosted by NIC, contains important judicial information, including case status updates.
