Ayushmann Khurrana claims Thamma to be a more massy film than Lokah
Ayushmann Khurrana addressed the comparisons drawn between his vampire film 'Thamma' and the Malayalam movie 'Lokah'. He stated that the two movies were very different.
Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana recently addressed the comparisons between the Malayalam movie Lokah and his upcoming vampire film Thamma. He claimed that the Bollywood movie was 'a more massy film'.
Speaking to Galatta Plus, Khurrana was asked about his opinion on the comparisons. He said the Malayalam movie could be a "good induction for certain multiplex audiences". He added that the two films had barely any similarities.
"We are high on comedy. Though I enjoyed Lokah, but I also feel that…I was shooting in Allahabad at that time, and it was not released there. So ours is a more massy film because it penetrates down to the Hindi-speaking markets also. Lokah could be a good induction for certain multiplex audiences towards this thing, but we have a different genesis, different situations, and it’s a different story. But there’s hardly any similarities," said Khurrana.
Are 'Thamma' and 'Lokah' similar?
Following Khurrana's statement, his Thamma co-star Rashmika Mandanna chimed in that their film was going to give the audience a whole new experience. "Having DQ (Dulquer Salmaan) and Thomas (Tovino), and Kalyani just doing their thing, it was a different world altogether. Knowing what we have in store and knowing where we are coming from, I can promise you that it’s going to be a different experience. You can’t put both the films together. I understand where it’s coming from, but tomorrow when you walk out of Thamma, it’s going to be a new conversation," said Rashmika.
Producer Dinesh Vijan also stated that he had heard so much about the movie Lokah. He added that Thamma was based on ‘mythos’,
Thamma, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is the fifth instalment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. It is all set to be released for Diwali on October 21.
