Ankit Sagar, an actor in Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film Dhurandhar, recently shed light on his experience portraying the real-life character of Javed Khanani. Initially cast after a look test and audition, Sagar was unaware of the characters true identity or background. It was only after discussions with director Aditya Dhar that he learned he would be playing Javed Khanani, a significant figure from Pakistan.
Khanani, a Karachi-based money exchanger from Lyari, was known for his extensive foreign exchange business, operating 350 offices across Pakistan and internationally in the Gulf and Europe. He was allegedly involved in transferring billions of dollars abroad and was implicated in funding various historical terrorist attacks against India, including the 1990's Bombay attacks, the Kandahar hijacking, and the Parliament attack.
Sagar described the challenge of embodying such a controversial figure, necessitating the suppression of his personal emotions as an Indian citizen to accurately portray Khanani's perspective. His research included consulting online resources and collaborating with the director to understand the characters depth and motivations.
