Dhurandhar not based on Major Mohit Sharmas life; Aditya Dhar clarifies

Mumbai: Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar took to social media to clarify that the movie was not based on Major Mohit Sharma's life. Aditya's statement came as a response to Sharma's brother, Madhur Sharma. 

Madhur had recated to a post that claimed the Ranveer Singh movie might be based on the life of his brother. Aditya, who took note of the comment, immediately set the record straight. In his post, he claimed that if a movie were to be made on Major Mohit, it would be done with the consent of his family. 

He wrote, "Hi, sir - our film Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us. Jai Hind (sic)."

Dhurandhar, headlined by Ranveer Singh and  Sara Arjun, also features Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and Vikash Rai. 

The movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios banner. It is scheduled to be released on December 5, 2025. 

Major Mohit Sharma served with the elite Special Forces unit. He was posthumously awarded the prestigious Ashoka Chakra for his bravery during the 2009 operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara sector.
