The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, presided over by Judge Honey M. Varghese, is scheduled to pronounce its verdict today in the prominent 2017 actress assault case. Actor Dileep is listed as the eighth among nine accused in the ongoing legal proceedings.

The alleged crime took place in February 2017, when the survivor was travelling from Thrissur to Ernakulam. Her car was reportedly forced to stop, and she was allegedly subjected to sexual assault by the first accused, Pulsar Suni, who also recorded the act. The survivor was later abandoned, and the accused fled.

Police arrested suspects shortly after the incident and filed an initial charge sheet. Dileep was subsequently arrested on 10 July 2017, following evidence suggesting a link to the prime accused, Suni, who allegedly sent him a letter from jail. Dileep was granted bail in October 2017, and a supplementary charge sheet naming him was filed in November 2017. A memory card containing video evidence, submitted by a lawyer, has been a key component of the prosecutions case.
