Mumbai: MTV wasn't just a music channel for many once upon a time. It was a cultural revolution and a form of expression for India's urban youth. It was the voice of the bold, edgy, liberal Indian youngsters that loved music, fashion, and embraced global trends. 

One of the many reasons for its appeal were their video jockeys. Unlike the video jockeys on traditional broadcast channels, MTV presenters stood apart in a crowd. They were bold, fashionable, outspoke and unique. They influenced generations, and many even went on to become prominent figures in the Indian entertainment industry. Famous MTV VJs in India 

Malaika Arora

Malaika Arora was one of the first VJs on MTV. During her time as a presenter, she hosted shows like Club MTV, MTV Loveline, Style Check, and Style Mantra. Soon after, Arora went on to become a model, dancer and an actor. She has also been on the panel of a couple of reality shows. 

Shenaz Treasury

Shenaz, a well-known content creator today, started her video jockey career when she was hired to be host of MTV's Most Wanted. Though she acted in a few films like "Eduruleni Manishi" in Telugu and "Ishq Vishk" in Bollywood, she later moved into traveling and writing. 

Cyrus Broacha

Cyrus, widely known for his humor and satire, hosted the show MTV Bakra. Over the years, he has acted in movies, hosted shows and even tried his hand at writing. He now runs a popular podcast called "Cyrus Says". 

Cyrus Sahukar

He made his break into MTV through a VJ hunt along with Mini Mathur and Asif Seth. MTV Chill Out, MTV Fully Faltoo, Piddhu the Great, and Rendezvous with Semi Girebaal, were some of the shows hosted by Cyrus. Like other VJs, he also ventured into acting. 

Rannvijay

Rannvijay entered MTV as a contestant for the show Roadies. Soon after winning the show, he became part of MTV. He had hosted MTV Roadies and MTV Splitsvilla. Rannvijay has also tried his hand in acting in Hindi and Punjabi. 

Anusha Dandekar

Anusha hosted several MTV shows like House of Style, Dance Crew, Teen Diva, News, and Love School. During her time as an achor, Anusha has addressed pay disparity and challenged it. Apart from her career with MTV, Anusha is a model and has also been on the judging panel of shows. 

Purab Kohli

Kohli, in the beginning of his career, was a VJ and also a television star. His TV show Hip Hip Hurray gave him massive recognition, helping his career take over on an another level. 

Mini Mathur

Mini Mathur is a well-known MTV VJ who began her career with the broadcast channel by interviewing film and pop stars, hosting concerts, giving advice to youngsters, etc. Following her stint at MTV, she went to hot reality shows. Mathur was the host of Indian Idol for six seasons.
