Paresh Rawal debunks 'myths' around Taj Story in EXCLUSIVE interview

According to the court chronicles, the Taj Mahal was built as a symbol of love. But the question that remains is what stood there before? The film also touches upon the fate of the artisans whose hands were said to be cut off after they built something so breathtaking.

Paresh Rawal and Zakir Hussain don't believe that there was a temple below the Taj Mahal, but reason out that it is Raja Man Singh's palace that was taken over, and Mumtaz Mahal's tomb was built, which is the Taj Mahal.

When a palace belonging to a Hindu king is taken, it would naturally have a temple within it. There’s no concrete proof of this, but it’s an understanding rooted in the era’s context. Shah Jahan’s biography mentions that this palace was acquired and then transformed into a tomb for Mumtaz.

Whether Taj Story is based on facts, fiction, or faith.. Director Tushar Goel said, “The film is rooted in historical facts but built on a fictional storyline. You need a strong narrative to support facts, and this story is entirely original. We created a character named Vishnu Das, who files a petition concerning the Taj Mahal.”

The journey to the courtroom unfolds as Vishnu presents his arguments, opposed by another character, Anwar Rashid, played by Zakir. The film’s structure draws from historical records that have been woven into the courtroom drama.''
