Shraddha Kapoors brother appears before Anti-Narcotics Cell in Rs 252-crore narcotics case
Siddhanth Kapoor arrived at the Anti-Narcotics Cell's office in Ghatkopar. Social media star Orry will also be questioned in the Rs 252-crore narcotics case.
Mumbai: Siddhanth Kapoor, the brother of Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, appeared before the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) on Tuesday in connection with the Rs 252 crore narcotics case. A video of Siddhanth arriving at the ANC office in Ghatkopar was shared by ANI.
The case dates back to August 2022, when mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 1.19 lakh was seized from Nagpada. Soon after, several other drug peddlers were put behind bars. The investigation eventually led to the busting of a mephedrone-manufacturing facility in a farm in Sangli district.
The key accused, Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, during questioning, stated that lavish parties fuelled by drugs were organised in the country as well as abroad. He claimed that these lavish outings were attended by celebrities like Siddhanth Kapoor, Orry, film producers Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Zeeshan Siddique, etc.
With the investigation still in the preliminary stages, the cops have yet to verify the claims made by Shaikh. Meanwhile, sources aware of the investigation details stated that luxury cars were used to transport drugs to avoid suspicion.
After Siddhanth's statements are recorded, the investigators will decide the further actions. Viral social media star Orry will appear before ANC on November 26 after he failed to appear last week, as he was abroad.
Meanwhile, the drug manufacturing facility, busted in Sangli in March 2024, belongs to drug trafficker Salim Dola-a key member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, and his son Taher.
"The raw material required to make MD in Sangli was provided by Khubbawala from Surat. From Sangli, the bulk of the manufactured drugs would be sent to Mira Road,” said a police officer to HT.
