Breaking News Live Updates, January 26, 2026: The 77th Republic Day celebrations are being held across the country today. Apart from the country, Indian embassies and diaspora are also celebrating the occasion abroad. European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are chief guests this year at Republic Day parade. Over 6,000 participants and military bands have taken part this year. The parade showcased India's full military might.
Celebrations began on Saturday evening with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the nation at 7 pm, broadcast on Akashvani and Doordarshan in Hindi, English and regional languages. The celebrations continue today with the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, showcasing cultural pageantry and military strength.
BJP–Congress spar over Rahul Gandhi not wearing Assamese gamosa at President’s reception

Delhi on high alert, traffic curbs and QR parking in place
