The 10-day deadline set by senior AIADMK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan for party general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) to initiate party unification efforts ended today. Sengottaiyan, who had previously met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, appealed for their assistance in bringing back breakaway AIADMK leaders.
His efforts come amidst internal party tension, exacerbated by Sengottaiyan's removal from official positions. EPS is scheduled to visit Delhi on September 16th, leading to speculation of a meeting with Amit Shah to address party unity and strategise for the 2026 assembly elections. While EPS has not directly responded to Sengottaiyan's ultimatum, he maintains the AIADMK remains united.
