Myanmar airstrike destroys hospital; kills 34 in rebel-held Rakhine
An airstrike by Myanmar’s military has flattened a hospital in Arakan Army–controlled territory, killing 34 patients and medical staff, according to a local rescue worker and independent media cited by the Associated Press.
The strike hit Mrauk-U township in Rakhine state on Wednesday night, amid intensifying fighting as the ethnic rebel group expands its control in the region.

Indian Coast Guard detains Pakistani boat in Arabian Sea
The Indian Coast Guard has detained a Pakistani fishing vessel and its 11 crew members after it was allegedly found operating inside India’s maritime limits during a routine patrol in the Arabian Sea. The interception took place on Wednesday, December 10, and was confirmed by officials a day later.
The crew has been taken to the Jakhau Marine police station in Gujarat for questioning. Initial findings suggest the boat had entered India’s Exclusive Economic Zone, an area where the country exercises control over resources and security. Bangladesh to conduct national elections on February 12
Bangladesh has announced that its 13th National Parliamentary Election will be held on February 12, 2026, the first general polls since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ouster. Chief Election Commissioner Naseeruddin said the country is prepared to showcase "free and democratic voting” and urged people to stay alert against fake news and rumours.
The general election and the July Charter referendum will be held simultaneously, with 300 parliamentary seats up for contest. The CEC added that non-resident Bangladeshis can begin applying online from tomorrow until December 25.
ECI extends SIR deadline across six regions; Bengal excluded

Luthra brothers issue statement after detention in Thailand
The legal team representing the Luthra brothers, owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, where a devastating fire on December 6 claimed 25 lives in North Goa’s Arpora has released a statement asserting that the duo are "law-abiding citizens” who have been "erroneously portrayed”.
The lawyers said the brothers never intended to evade the investigation and had voluntarily returned to India on the advice of senior advocate Tanveer Ahmed Mir. According to the statement, they were urged to "submit themselves to the judicial system”, as the case continues to draw intense scrutiny from authorities and the public.
This statement comes following their detention in Thailand by the local police.

Fireworks banned at nightbclubs, hotels, other tourist establishments in North Goa
Days after a fire at a nightclub in North Goa claimed 25 lives, the district administration has issued an order prohibiting the use of fireworks, sparklers and pyrotechnics inside tourist establishments. The North Goa district administration issued the order on Wednesday evening as a precautionary measure following the tragic fire incident which occurred at the nightclub in Arpora around midnight on December 6.
"The order has been issued under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, prohibiting the use, bursting, ignition or operation of fireworks, sparklers, pyrotechnic effects, flame thrower-type devices, smoke generators and similar fire/smoke-producing equipment inside tourist establishments," a senior district administration official said.
Three killed as car collides with bus on Bengaluru outskirts
Three people were killed when a speeding car collided with a KSRTC bus near Devanahalli on the outskirts of the city, police said on Thursday. According to police, the crash took place at Lalagondanahalli Gate on late Wednesday. All three occupants of the car, who died in this tragedy, have been identified as Mohan Kumar (33), Suman (28) and Sagar (23), all residents of Sadahalli in Devanahalli taluk.
Chinese national deported to Hong Kong for visa violations
Chinese national Hu Congtai, who had entered Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir in violation of his visa stipulations, has been deported to Hong Kong, officials said here on Thursday. "The Chinese national who was detained here last week has been sent to Delhi on the evening of 10th December for onward deportation to Hong Kong," the officials said. Congtai, 29, arrived in Delhi on November 19 on a tourist visa, which permitted him to visit Buddhist religious places in Varanasi, Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur, Sarnath, Gaya and Kushi Nagar. However, he boarded a flight to Leh on November 20 and did not register at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office counter located at the Leh airport.

Two adjacent four-storey buildings collapsed overnight in the Moroccan city of Fez, killing 22 people in the second fatal collapse there this year, authorities said on Wednesday.
