Breaking News LIVE UPDATES, August 19, 2025, Latest News Today: US President Donald Trump said Monday he had started arranging a peace summit between Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia's Vladimir Putin, after intensive talks with Zelensky and European leaders at the White House.
Trump said he had spoken by phone with Putin -- whom he met in Alaska last week -- following a "very good" meeting with the Europeans and the Ukrainian president in the White House.
CPWD invites bids for two new secretariat buildings under Central Vista Project
The Central Public Works Department has floated a tender to construct Common Central Secretariat Buildings 8 and 9, with September 16 as the deadline for submissions. These structures will replace ageing government offices like Udyog Bhavan and Nirman Bhavan as part of the ongoing Central Vista redevelopment.

Video captures racist attack on two Sikh men by teenagers in racist attack in UK
In a hate crime in the UK, two Sikh men were assaulted by three teenagers last Friday, causing a massive uproar. The racist attack occurred outside a railway station in Wolverhampton.
A viral footage of the incident showed the victims lying on the ground, being kicked repeatedly by one of the attackers until he was pulled away by another. The turbans of the Sikh men had come off during the assault and were seen lying next to them.

On Cam: Female cop dragged by auto as she asks drunk driver to stop
A woman traffic cop was dragged for over 100 metres by an auto driven by a drunk man in Maharashtra's Satara district on Monday.
Policewoman Bhagyashree Jadhav was on duty at a crossing in Satara city when he had asked the auto to stop for checking. Fearing that he would be penalised for driving under the influence, auto driver Devraj Kale refused to stop and tried to escape.
The auto dragged the policewoman along for 120 metres as she clung to it, showed disturbing visuals captured on CCTV cameras. It eventually came to a halt as passersby swung into action and blocked its way. They also thrashed Kale and rescued the cop. The driver was later arrested by the police.

2 dead, 3 wounded in shooting in southern West Virginia
A shooting in southern West Virginia on Monday left two people dead including a suspected gunman, along with three others wounded, police said.
Fayette County Sheriff Jess McMullen said the shooting happened in Mount Carbon. Police found the suspected gunman dead inside his residence of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, while another person was found dead in a neighboring carport.
