New Delhi: A viral video featuring Indian employees dancing for their foreign client faced massive backlash on social media. Netizens urged companies to stop such acts in spaces of serious work. They stated that it impacted optics.
The clip, circulating online, showed a bunch of tech employees dancing to the Telugu song "Killi Killi" in front of their foreign client. The foreigner seemed to be enjoying the performance, which was meant to be part of the company's warm welcome gesture. Further, one of the employees gave a solo performance and dance to the Bollywood song "Main Tera Boyfriend". The client continued to watch the performance and smile.
Employees dance to welcome foreign client, netizens criticise
The video was shared with the caption, "India should stop chaprification of corporate offices. This is so pathetic to see Indian girls dancing in office and welcoming a foreign client and the becahra client also forced to dance. Such showcasing will only make other countries feel Indian offices are causal and not worthy of serious work (sic)."
Many agreed with the point of view. They claimed that Indians should let go of a couple of things in their workspaces to change the way they are viewed. "The first step is to stop calling people in a professional environment as Sir and Madam. Native English speakers seldom call someone else that at work, no matter how old they are. This "thanks for giving us work, we’re now your slaves” attitude should stop. Right now," said one individual.
Another simply said, "This is embarrassing. They need to stop this random dance scene. The dance itself isn’t good, and the optics are much worse."
Meanwhile, a few took the whole incident differently. They claimed that such activities helped with the work fatigue faced by several employees. They claimed that it uplifted their spirits mentally and physically.
