New Delhi: A student from Karnataka's Ballari set a record by writing an exam blindfolded. While people find it impossible to do anything with even their eyes shut this girl has gone and written a full examination paper, all while not seeing anything. She is now being hailed as "modern day Gandhari".
The girl has been identified as Himabindu, a class 8 student of the Kuravalli Thimmappa Memorial English Medium School in Bellary. A video of the student writing the exam with her eyes tightly closed with a cloth has now gone viral on several social media platforms. The girl reportedly took her Social Science paper, blindfolded.
According to a report in TV9 Kannada, the girl had cotton placed on both her eyes and then a black cloth was tied to it, so that she could not see anything. Her parents and school teachers were all praises for Himabindu. One of her teachers said that she can even recognise photographs of important leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Anjaneyaswamy, Kanakadasa with her eyes closed.
According to her parents, the girl can easily recognise the letters on a mobile phone with her eyes closed. The girl who has mastered the art of doing work with her eyes closed, has now decided to write all her 8th grade exams blindfolded, said her parents.
According to reports, Himabindu has been learning the art of reading and writing with her eyes closed called, 'Gandhari Vidya' since she was 11 years old. She can now easily recognise pictures and write well with her eyes blindfolded.
The young girl has received immense support and praise from her parents and teachers in her achievements. Since she is still in Class 8, she has been extended an opportunity to write her examinations blindfolded. Such facilities are not available in any public examination. The school management however permitted her to attempt the internal school examination while being blindfolded.
Talking about her 'technique', Himabindu said that she had been practising writing while blindfolded, since a very young age. She said, "Before writing the exams, I recite a secret mantra. I have not shared this 'mantra with anyone. Till now I have participated in 25 programmes and received awards for my achievements."
The girl further said, "My guru has given me this knowledge and I can understand everything through my third eye. He has taught me a pranayam for that."
