New Delhi: A bomb threat was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Control Room on Friday on its official WhatsApp number, in which the police have been warned of attacks planned for Anant Chaturdashi, as per reports.

The message has sent the police into a mode of heightened alert as Mumbai gears up to celebrate Anant Chaturdashi on September 6. The message claims that human bombs have been planted in 34 vehicles, and the entire city of Mumbai will shake with explosions. The warning also said that there will be a major explosion involving RDX.

Who issued the threat?

The sender claims to belong to a Pakistani organisation called "Lashkar-e-Jihadi". It also claims that 14 Pakistani terrorists have entered India. Moreover, the message says that 400 kgs of RDX will be used in the blast, which will kill 1 crore people.

The Mumbai Police said, "Traffic Police in Mumbai received threats over their official WhatsApp number. In the threat, a claim has been made that 34 'human bombs' have been planted in 34 vehicles across the city and the blast will shake the entire Mumbai.”

Mumbai celebrating Ganeshotsav

An alert Mumbai Police has increased security across the city and the state. Police said, "All angles of the threat are being investigated." Notably, the 10-day Ganeshotsav, which is celebrated with much pomp and splendour, is coming to an end on September 6. The entire Maharashtra is gearing up for the grand Ganesh Visarjan ritual.

The celebrations began on August 27, Ganesh Chaturthi, and will end on Anantha Chaturdashi. A huge crowd is expected to throng the streets of Mumbai on the occasion of the immersion of Ganesh idols, with important places like the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal witnessing massive footfall.
