New Delhi: The journey of passenger trains in India began in 1853 when the British Empire decided to introduce railways in one of its largest colonies. Back then, the technology of the trains was primitive compared to today's age. Since 1947, after India gained Independence from the British Raj, the trains have been upgraded manifold. While the British introduced trains in India due to their profit, it has become a lasting legacy of the colonisers.

A normal Vande Bharat Express train may have eight, 16 or 20 coaches, and Chennai's Integral Coach Factory has designed and manufactured it. The maximum estimated speed of the Vande Bharat Express is 180 km per hour, and the maximum operational speed is 160 km per hour.

The train number of the Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express is 22545/22546. It is the 44th Vande Bharat Express train in India. The train connects Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, with Dehradun, the winter capital of Uttarakhand. On March 12, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this express train via video conferencing from Ahmedabad. The Indian Railways operates the train, and it connects Lucknow Junction, Moradabad Junction, Bareilly Junction, Haridwar and Dehradun.

The Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express is the 42nd second-generation and 28th Mini Vande Bharat 2.0 Express train. The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai manufactured it under the Make in India Initiative.

The Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express runs 6 days a week. It departs from Lucknow at 5:15 am and reaches Dehradun at 1:40 pm.

The Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express covers a total distance of 545 km. It takes about 8 hours and 20 minutes to cover the distance. The average speed of the train is 65 km per hour, while the maximum permissible speed (MPS) is 110 km per hour.
