Nepal's interim Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, has expanded her cabinet just two days after assuming office. Three key ministerial positions have been filled by technocrats with established track records.
Advocate Om Prakash Aryal has been appointed as Home and Law Minister, Rameshwor Khanal as Finance Minister, and Kulman Ghising as Energy Minister. Aryal is known for his public interest litigation, including a Supreme Court case against a former anti-corruption chief.
Khanal, a former finance secretary, recently submitted a comprehensive economic reform report. Ghising, formerly managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, gained popularity for ending load-shedding. With elections scheduled in six months, Prime Minister Karki has pledged to focus on national service, emphasising her commitment to returning power to the people.
