The News9 Global Summit – Germany Edition 2025 has officially begun, commemorating a significant milestone: 25 years of Indo-German partnership. The summit places a strong emphasis on expanding cooperation in various sectors, notably healthcare.
Mr. Manne Lucha, Germany’s Minister for Social Affairs, Health and Integration, highlighted the critical role of Indian nurses in the German healthcare system. He stressed that securing skilled professionals in this sector is paramount for society’s backbone. The nursing profession is identified as a rapidly growing field offering secure employment and diverse opportunities.
The partnership, which saw healthcare added as a cooperation field in 2024, benefits significantly from programs like "Triple Win," which has placed approximately 6,000 Indian nursing professionals with German employers since 2013, many from Kerala and Telangana.
Future collaboration will see a focus on Maharashtra, recognised for its young, academically trained nursing population and German language initiatives. Minister Lucha plans a delegation visit to Mumbai and Pune in December to foster further institutional partnerships.
