Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently concluded a series of high-level meetings with the chief executives of global technology giants, including Microsoft, Intel, and Cognizant, signalling India's growing prominence in the global tech landscape. The discussions focused on accelerating foreign investment in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and digital infrastructure across India.

A major highlight was Microsoft CEO Satya Nadellas announcement of a landmark investment. Microsoft is set to invest ₹1.5 lakh crore, reportedly $17.5 billion US dollars, marking the companys largest ever investment in Asia.

This substantial pledge aims to accelerate Indias journey to becoming a global AI hub, including expanding cloud and supercomputing infrastructure, scaling AI skilling initiatives, and strengthening secure sovereign data systems.

PM Modi also met with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S, where talks centred on expanding operations at the companys major development hubs in Chennai and Pune. This includes creating jobs, scaling digital engineering, and boosting cloud capabilities.

Intel's CEO also held discussions aligned with India's semiconductor mission, exploring the expansion of Intels design and R&D ecosystem and the feasibility of a cutting-edge fabrication unit under Indias chip manufacturing drive. These engagements underscore a concerted effort to propel Indias AI-first economy and digital future.
