Students at Panjab University are staging a large-scale protest, demanding the immediate conduct of senate elections. Security has been tightened with heavy police deployment and barricades as the demonstration, organised by Panjab University Bachao Morcha, continues.

Security was significantly ramped up at Panjab University on Monday as student groups initiated a large-scale protest, demanding the immediate conduct of Senate elections. Heavy police presence, barricading, and restricted campus access were implemented as precautionary measures to prevent potential unrest.

The demonstration, organised under the banner of Panjab University Bachao Morcha, stems from widespread backlash against a now-withdrawn Education Ministry notification concerning Senate restructuring. This notification, originally issued on 28th October, was revoked last week.

Despite its revocation, student organisations have refused to withdraw their protest, highlighting their persistent demands. Visuals from the campus depicted scenes of heavy police deployment and deployed barricades as students pressed for their calls for immediate electoral processes.
