New Delhi: A distressing video has surfaced showing Indian woman Sarabjeet Kaur, in which she claims she wants to return to India, alleging harassment by her husband in Pakistan. Kaur had travelled to Pakistan for a Sikh pilgrimage, where she later married a Pakistani national. In the video, the 48-year-old woman is believed to be speaking to her ex-husband, urging him to bring her back home.
The case dates back to November 2025, when Kaur crossed into Pakistan via the Wagah border to attend the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. While other pilgrims returned to India, Kaur married Nasir Hussain of Sheikhupura district on November 4.
In the video clip, Kaur says conditions in Pakistan are “not good” and alleges that she is being harassed by her husband and his family. She expresses her desire to return to India and asks the man she is speaking to promise that she will not be harmed upon her return. “I am being harassed here. I cannot live without my children. I used to give millions of rupees to people. I am a Sardarni, yet I am left pleading for money,” the woman added.
However, the authenticity of the video has not yet been verified. Subsequently, Kaur said she had not gone to Pakistan as a spy but to get her obscene photographs deleted. She claimed that Nasir Hussain possessed objectionable images of her and that she wanted them removed.
After Kaur and Hussain married in Pakistan, they filed a petition in the Lahore High Court alleging that police had conducted an illegal raid at their house in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura, and pressured them to end their marriage. Lahore High Court Justice Farooq Haider ordered the police to stop harassing the couple, NDTV reported.
Despite the court order, Kaur was later arrested and sent to a government-run shelter home in Lahore, a Punjab government source said on Wednesday.“Instead of following the court’s directions, the Punjab Police apprehended the couple and sent Ms Kaur to Darul Aman, a government-run shelter home in Lahore,” the source told PTI. He said the authorities are planning to deport Kaur, while her husband remains in police custody in connection with a case. “The authorities had earlier attempted to deport Kaur, but the move failed due to the closure of the Wagah–Attari border,” he said.
Earlier, in a video clip, Kaur said she had approached the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to extend her visa and had also applied for Pakistani nationality.“I am a divorcee and wanted to marry Hussain. That is why I came here,” she said.
Kaur was given the Muslim name Noor before the nikah ceremony. “I married Hussain willingly,” she said.Earlier, former Punjab Assembly member Mahinder Pal Singh had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court alleging that Kaur could be an “Indian spy.” He claimed that her continued stay in Pakistan after the expiry of her visa was illegal and raised concerns linked to Pakistan’s national security.
