Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs walked out of Telangana Assembly session and boycotted all discussion on bills in the Assembly on Friday, January 2.
BRS legislators alleged that the Speaker was acting in a biased manner and raised slogans in the house. They staged a protest in the Assembly and later marched from Assembly premises towards Gun Park as a part of their protest.
T Harish Rao slams Revanth Reddy for abusive remarks:
Speaking to the media, BRS MLA T Harish Rao slammed the chief minister for allegedly making abusive remarks against BRS chief KCR.
He also stated that the opposition is not being given a chance to speak in the Assembly. “The Speaker says we should not criticise the Chief Minister, then why should we even be there? The Speaker said the mic will be cut if we speak against the Chief Minister. In protest against the Speaker’s biased attitude, the BRS is boycotting the Assembly session.”
He further alleged that the CM was converting the Assembly into Gandhi Bhavan or a CLP meeting and accused him of being uncivil when the opposition raises questions in the house.
CM announces Musi riverfront development:
Meanwhile, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said in the Assembly that the opposition is spreading poison against the government and is misleading people over Musi Riverfront project development.
He clarified that the Musi Riverfront project will be developed over a stretch of 55 kilometres and that Godavari waters will be brought to Gandipet in two years time and details of phase-1 of the project will be shared by Sankranti.
He said that his government has taken strict measures to protect Musi river and cracked down on irregularities after assuming office.
The BRS protest and boycott came after Harish Rao questioned the CM in the Assembly about Musi Rejuvenation costs, demolitions and rehabilitation. He asked if the homes of poor are being demolished in the name of Musi rejuvenation and if Godavari water is being brought from Mallanna Sagar. He further pointed that vacant lands are available along the Musi and development should be done in those areas.
