New Delhi: A youth has been booked by the police and the owner of the vehicle, reportedly his father, has been detained after a shocking road rage incident in Jammu's Green Belt Park area. The accused, identified as Manan Anand, son of Rajinder Anand of Nanak Nagar, allegedly deliberately reversed his Mahindra Thar SUV to hit an elderly man after a minor collision involving the victim's scooty.

The incident took place around 1.30pm on Sunday near Allora Textiles. The SUV, while attempting to overtake another vehicle on a single-lane road, veered onto the wrong side and collided with the scooty, which was coming from the opposite direction.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. The video shows the Thar hitting the victim's scooty. The video further shows the accused stepping out of the vehicle, abusing the injured victim, and then fleeing the scene.


A passersby rushed to help the injured man. He was taken to GMC Hospital Jammu, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Police have registered an FIR under sections 281, 109, and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Gandhi Nagar police station. The Thar SUV has been seized, and a manhunt is underway to trace the absconding accused. Police suspect that Manan Anand may have left Jammu.

Netizens demand strong action

Netizens have demanded strong action against the accused. A user wrote on X: "Another Thar. Another case of negligent driving. Another act of complete arrogance. What you think is the solution?"

Another user wrote: "When your vehicle becomes a status toy for violent, entitled brats, you have a responsibility."
