New Delhi: The draft electoral rolls for West Bengal were released by the Election Commission of India on Tuesday, a month after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The draft list will be available online and offline both, according to the EC. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for electoral rolls in the state began on November 4.
The draft electoral rolls were made available to booth-level officers (BLOs) across the state on Monday only. However, the list went live for public access both online and offline today, according to officials.
According to Commission estimates based on data verification, names of more than 58 lakh voters have been deleted from the rolls, including those of deceased, relocated and duplicate voters. The list includes 12.20 lakh missing voters, 24.17 lakh deceased voters, 19.88 lakh relocated voters, and 1.38 lakh fake voters, a poll body official told PTI.
How voters can verify their details online
If you want to check your name in the draft voter list online, visit the Election Commission of India's website -- voters.eci.gov.in -- or the official website of Bengal’s chief electoral officer, ceowestbengal.gov.in. One can also verify their details through the ECINET mobile application.
Enter the elector's name and photo identity card (EPIC) number. The details of the voter will appear on the website.
How to check your name on draft list offline
If voters are not able to access the information online, they can check their names at the block development office or contact their respective BLOs.
The draft voter list will be shared with all recognised political parties on Tuesday. However, printed copies will not be immediately available at Block Development Officer (BDO) and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) offices due to the logistical issues. The list will be kept with district magistrates and will remain accessible through BLOs.
