New Delhi: Prior to the announcement of pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voters’ list on Monday, the West Bengal government has transferred a total of 64 officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer (SDOs), Officer on Special Duty (OSDs), and Additional District Magistrates.
A major administrative reshuffle has taken place in West Bengal just before the SIR announcement. Following Nabanna's directive, a total of 64 IAS officers, including 10 District Magistrates, and five WBCS officers have been transferred. Several ADMs and SDOs have also been transferred.
According to the government sources, the decision to transfer was made for officials who have been serving in the same position for a long time, with the aim of maintaining administrative balance. However, the Opposition in the state claims that it has a different political connotation. Political circle has the buzz that the ruling party has brought in more 'loyal' officers to conduct the SIR.
