‘No loopholes should be left’: Amit Shah sends strong message to party for victory in 2026 Bengal elections

New Delhi: As the 2026 Bengal Assembly elections approach, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting at Kolkata's BJP office in Salt Lake on Monday evening. At the two-hour long meeting, Shah briefed the party about the strategies and preparations of the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the meeting, Shah stated that the party workers to work on every front — campaigns, protests, and programmes — and stated that there must be “tight and aggressive mobilisation".

Shah instructed that BJP should perform in such an effective manner, that the Trinamool Congress struggles to find any "breathing space". Hailing the party's potential triumph, Shah said, “There should be only one goal — Victory." The BJP leader echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong message, reiterating that victory in Bengal is crucial for the political landscape of the entire country. He suggested the party workers to maintain their focus on that objective. "No loopholes should be left," Shah was quoted by the sources.

The Union minister also sought reports on public outreach and street meetings—about people's response and their the rate of their presence at the public gatherings. Additionally, he requested an update from the state party president on the condition of the organisation, according to BJP sources. State leaders raised complaints with Shah regarding the law and order situation.

Shah has a tight schedule

Amit Shah has a packed schedule, with a press conference scheduled on Tuesday, that would-be followed by back-to-back closed-door meetings. These official meetings would include BJP’s public representatives from the state in Parliament, Assembly and civic bodies and also with the top brass of Bengal RSS.

On Wednesday, Shah plans to visit Thanthania Kali Bari Temple in central Kolkata. He is also scheduled to address a party workers’ meeting at an auditorium in east Kolkata tomorrow. The former Gujarat MLA is scheduled to visit the house of a Bengali icon in the city or its nearby areas before leaving; however, this programme has not yet been finalised.
