The festival is rooted in the epic Ramayan, where the supreme antagonist Lanka King Ravan kidnapped Lord Rama’s wife, Sita. This incident triggered a battle, ending in the defeat of Ravan. Since then, Dussehra celebrates the triumph of Lord Rama over Ravan by burning an effigy of Ravan, his son Meghnad, and his brother Kumbhkaran.
