According to legend, on this day, Lord Shiva defeated the demon Tripurasura, restoring peace in the heavens. It is believed that the deities descend to the ghats of the Ganga to bless devotees, and the riverbanks glow with thousands of lamps during the grand Deepdaan. 1. Clean and decorate your home

A clean and clutter-free home is believed to attract Goddess Lakshmi. Decorate the main entrance with a rangoli.

2. Ganga snan and deepdaan
