New Delhi: Kuber Bhandari Temple in Uttarakhand’s Almora is an ancient shrine believed to have been constructed between the 7th and 12th centuries. Part of the larger Jageshwar Dham temple complex, it is dedicated to God of Wealth Lord Kuber, though devotees worship him in the form of Lord Shiva. Located 35 km from Almora in the Kumaon Himalayas, Jageshwar Dham is home to more than 125 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Known as the “Valley of Gods,” it is a significant pilgrimage site and a place of historical interest, featuring ancient sculptures and inscriptions that reflect the region’s past.

As per legends, Kuber was defeated by his cousin Ravana, who took all of his wealth and kingdom. Subsequently, a disheartened Kuber wandered into the wilderness seeking peace. He eventually arrived in the valley of Jageshwar, a place filled with the spiritual energy of Lord Shiva.
