The upcoming episode of Netflix's The Great Indian Kapil Show will celebrate India's historic Women's ODI World Cup triumph. Apart from Smriti Mandhana, the show featured all other cricketers from the World Cup-winning team.
New Delhi: Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma is set to host the Indian women's cricket team on the second episode of Netflix's The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 4. The makers of the show have unveiled the promo for the next episode, in which the Women in Blue are being celebrated for their historic ODI World Cup triumph.
The episode will feature skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh, Harleen Deol, Radha Yadav, Pratika Rawal, and Head Coach Amol Mazumdar. India's vice-captain, Smriti Mandhana, is missing from the episode after her wedding cancellation with music composer Palash Muchhal.
Smriti skips the Kapil Sharma show
The makers of Kapil's show released the promo of the upcoming episode with the Women in Blue. In the promo, Kapil is seen asking skipper Harmanpreet Kaur about her bhangra moves, which she showed off after lifting the trophy. Jemimah Rodrigues also joined the conversation and revealed that Smriti Mandhana encouraged her to dance.
"Harry didi hum logon ki baat nahi sunti hai. Par Smriti ne bola tha ki agar bhangra nahi kiya toh main baat nahi karungi life bhar (Harry didi don't listen to us. But Smriti had said that if I didn’t do the Bhangra, she wouldn’t talk to me for life)" Jemimah said.
Later, Kapil also played a quiz with pacer Renuka Thakur about her 'ideal boy'. The promo also featured Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda, and the episode will go live on December 27.
Fans on social media quickly spotted Smriti's absence in the promo and said that she is being missed in the show. Earlier this month, Smriti took to Instagram stories to announce the cancellation of her wedding, urging for privacy for both families.
"I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same", Smriti added.
She returned to action in the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka and scored just 39 runs in the first two games so far.
