West Indies to conduct six-day camp in Ahmedabad ahead of Test series against India – Report
The West Indies team will conduct a six-day camp in Ahmedabad for training ahead of a two-Test match series against India.
New Delhi: West Indies plans to conduct a six-day camp in Ahmedabad ahead of the two-Test match series against India, according to a report on Cricbuzz. Cricket West Indies (CWI) approached the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Gujarat Cricket Association (CGA) to urge a training session in Ahmedabad from September 24 to 29, before taking on India in Narendra Modi Stadium on October 2.
West Indies picked up two specialist spinners – vice-captain Jomel Warrican and uncapped Khary Pierre – for the India tour. Their skipper, Roston Chase, will also add some experience in the spin department with his off-spin. However, the Caribbean team are coming with their strong pace attack, including Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Anderson Phillips.
"We have a team that we expect to perform well, in particular a quite exciting fast bowling attack. We are there from September 24 through to the first Test," CWI CEO Christ Dehring quoted on Cricbuzz on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Indian team will also assemble on September 29 in Gujarat after commencing the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. If India qualified for the finals, they would play the final on September 28, and the next day would travel directly from Dubai to Ahmedabad.
Whereas the other players, who are not in the Asia Cup squad, will travel earlier to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for training. The selectors haven't picked the squad for the West Indies series but are expected to announce the squad next week.
