Youngest and oldest player to go under the hammer at IPL 2026 auction

The IPL 2026 mini-auction is set to take place on Tuesday, December 16 in Abu Dhabi with as many as 369 players to go under the hammer.

New Delhi: The much-anticipated mini-auction of the Indian Premier League 2026 edition will take place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. Initially a total of 350 players were supposed to go under the hammer but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in a last-day addition, added 19 new names to the final list.

The IPL franchise were infirmed about the late additions during a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening. The final list, which consists of 369 players now, will be shared with all the ten franchises ahead of the mini-event on Tuesday. With just 77 vacancies available across the 10 franchises, out if which 31 have been reserved for overseas players, the auction is an unpredictable event.

Ahead of mega event, let's take a look at who is the youngest and the oldest player to feature in the IPL 2026 auction.

Youngest Player - Wahidullah Zadran

The youngest player in the IPL 2026 auction is Wahidullah Zadran from Afghanistan. Born in the year 2007, Wahidullah will be 18 years and 31 days old on auction day. The Afghan player is an uncapped bowler with a base price of Rs 30 lakh and has already impressed in the shortest format of the game. Wahidullah has claimed 28 wickets in 19 matches at an economy rate of 6.72.

There are as many as six players born in the year 2007 in this year's auction but no player born in 2008 or later will feature in the event.

Oldest Player - Jalaj Saxena

The oldest player in the auction is Jalaj Saxena who happens to be a seasoned all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. Just a day ahead of the auction, Jalaj has turned 39 and is the oldest in the lot. He is an uncapped player with a base price of Rs 40 lakh and has earlier featured in the cash-rich league.

He made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in 2021, which happened to be his only match he featured in. Interestingly, no player born in 1986 or earlier features in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.
