New Delhi: Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has announced a two-year contract extension at Etihad. The Portuguese star's contract was set to expire in 2027 with City but his new deal has increased his stay until 2029 with the option of a further 12 months extension.

After signing a new contract, Dias said he could not imagine playing anywhere else after a decade-long stay at Etihad. He told the club's official website, “I am incredibly happy today. Other extensions on cards

Speculation still surrounds the futures of Bernardo Silva and John Stones, who both have a year left on their contracts while Ilkay Gundogan and Ederson enter the final stretch of their current deals.

Meanwhile, Rodri, Phil Foden, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake all have two years remaining. But for now, securing Dias represents a clear statement of intent, reinforcing City’s long-term ambitions and their desire to remain at the very top.

Dias’ decision to commit until 2029 not only provides Guardiola with continuity at the back but also sets the tone for the next generation of talent breaking into the senior side. For City, keeping one of their most trusted leaders ensures the foundations are firmly in place for the battles ahead.
