New Delhi: Apple is rolling out iOS 26 later today, marking what the company calls its biggest redesign since iOS 7. The update was confirmed at last week’s iPhone event, where Apple said it would release the new version on Monday, September 15.
For users in India, the wait ends tonight at 10:30 pm. That’s the scheduled release time for iOS 26, which will begin rolling out to compatible iPhones over the air. Based on Apple’s previous update cycles, the release will start simultaneously across global time zones, with the U.S. launch fixed at 10:00 am Pacific Time.
On its websites across regions, Apple listed September 15 as the rollout date for iOS 26, except in Indonesia, where the page indicated a September 16 release. The small gap reflects how the global launch window is aligned with the Pacific time zone.
In India, users will be able to check for the update by heading to Settings General Software Update after 10:30 pm. As with earlier rollouts, Apple recommends downloading the update over Wi-Fi and making sure the iPhone is charged before starting the installation, since it can take time depending on internet speed and device storage.
Although today’s release is mainly about availability, the scale of iOS 26 makes it one of Apple’s most anticipated software events in years. Apple has said that iOS 26 will deliver a “biggest redesign since iOS 7,” putting it in the league of system-wide refreshes that fundamentally changed how iPhones look and feel.
The update will also arrive alongside iPadOS 26, which will be pushed out to iPads at the same time. Like previous years, the rollout will be over-the-air, but users who prefer to wait can let their iPhones update automatically when plugged into a computer or power source.
We’ve been through these rollouts before and the rush to hit “Download and Install” the moment it appears can sometimes backfire. Servers can get clogged, and downloads may slow to a crawl. For those who aren’t in a hurry, it might be smarter to let the update settle for a few hours or wait until tomorrow.
That said, tonight is still a landmark moment for Apple’s Indian user base. With iOS 26 arriving at 10:30 pm, millions of iPhones will start seeing the update notification almost at the same time. For those who like being early adopters, tonight is the night to back up your device and be ready.
