New Delhi: Apple is reported to have planned a significant change in its cycle of launching iPhones, and this could imply no standard iPhone 18 next year. Apple is about to abandon its long-running tradition of a single massive launch event in September and is instead moving to a two-stage launch system, at least according to multiple supply chain insiders and famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This is a drastic change in the tradition of the company releasing all major iPhones simultaneously in the fall.
Thus far, Apple has continued to have a consistent cadence, releasing flagship iPhones in September and some low-end phones such as the iPhone SE or iPhone 16e in March. However, starting in 2026, this strategy will be restructured to more effectively target a specific segment of the market and optimise sales.
The initial stage of the next-gen iPhone rolloutby Apple is set to be in September of 2026, when it is reported that Apple will only have high-end devices. It is likely that this event may feature the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone Air 2. The fourth position of the usual lineup of Apple may be offered to the first-ever foldable device of the company, the iPhone Fold, instead of the usual iPhone 18.
Focusing on high-end models over the festive season, Apple may improve the profit margins of its premium models. The regular iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e, as expected, will be launched later, in spring 2027, and it will have its distinct focus on the low-end market.
