Amidst widespread unrest and violence in Nepal, stemming from rising corruption and a social media ban, a contrasting act of humanity emerged. Minister Sharad Singh Bhandari reportedly fled his home when protesters approached, abandoning his disabled wife.
However, student protesters, who had been blamed for some of the destruction, intervened. They rescued the ministers wife, carrying her to safety and ensuring her admission to a hospital.
A video of this rescue quickly went viral, garnering widespread praise for the students and sharp criticism for Minister Bhandari, who was labelled "selfish" by many online. The Nepali Army eventually intervened to quell the days of unrest.
