New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unveiled a new trilateral framework for technology and innovation after meeting his Australian and Canadian counterparts on the sidelines of the G-20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg.
Boosting tech collaboration
"We are delighted to announce an Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership today,” PM Modi said in a social media post following discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canada’s Mark Carney.
The initiative, he noted, will strengthen cooperation among democratic partners across three continents, with a focus on emerging technologies, diversified supply chains, clean energy and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence.
Talks with UK, UN
Separately, PM Modi held bilateral meetings with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
"It was wonderful meeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Johannesburg. This year has brought new energy to the India–UK partnership and we will keep driving it forward across many domains,” PM Modi said in a post on X. The Prime Minister described his talks with the UN chief as "very productive.”
Addressing the opening session of the G-20 Leaders’ Meeting, PM Modi called for a comprehensive reassessment of global development standards and proposed a G-20 initiative to counter the drug-terror nexus along with establishing a global healthcare response team.
