Ukraine conducted one of its largest drone attacks to date, targeting the Kirishi oil refinery in northwest Russia. Three drones hit the facility, resulting in a minor fire but no reported casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hailed the attack, describing it as a highly effective form of sanction. In response, Russia test-fired a Zircon hypersonic missile during joint military exercises with Belarus.

This escalation follows US pressure on NATO allies to impose stricter energy sanctions on Russia, aiming to curtail funding for the ongoing war. Over 361 drones were reportedly launched into Russian territory during the offensive. The Kirishi refinery processes over 6% of Russia's crude oil, making the attack a significant blow to Russian energy infrastructure.
