New Delhi: The Creta Electric has only been on sale a short while, but Hyundai has already rolled out a round of updates to keep the EV in the headlines. Buyers now get more choices in the line-up, new features, fresh colour options, and slightly higher range figures. But there is a catch too, some trims have been dropped and a few prices have gone up.
For a car that has quickly become one of the most visible mid-size EV SUVs on Indian roads, these changes are significant. The revisions come at a time when competition in the electric SUV space is getting tighter, with rivals like Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra XUV400 Pro also fighting for attention.
Hyundai has added three new trims to the Creta Electric line-up — Executive Tech 42kWh, Excellence 42kWh, and Executive(O) 51.4kWh. This means buyers now have a broader spread across the two battery pack options. The Executive(O) is the most affordable way into the larger 51.4kWh battery, while the Excellence 42kWh is now the top-spec trim for the smaller pack.
At the same time, the Smart and Smart(O) 42kWh variants have been discontinued, suggesting Hyundai is trying to streamline demand into newer trims.
The headline news is the small but noticeable price hikes across a few existing trims. The Executive 42kWh is now ₹18.02 lakh (ex-showroom), up ₹3,200 from before, while the Smart(O) 51.4kWh is ₹21.53 lakh, up by ₹3,000. The Excellence 51.4kWh sees the biggest jump at ₹23.67 lakh, up by ₹17,000. Other trims like the Premium 42kWh remain unchanged at ₹20 lakh.
The good news is in the range department. The 42kWh battery’s claimed range is now 420 km, up from 390 km, while the 51.4kWh unit goes from 473 km to 510 km. That’s roughly an 8 percent improvement and should help reduce range anxiety in real-world city and highway use.
Apart from new trims and pricing, Hyundai has added a few extras to keep things fresh. All variants now get a wired-to-wireless adapter for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Excellence 42kWh and 51.4kWh trims pack in a dashcam and rear wireless charger. Meanwhile, the Premium trim gains vegan leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and an 8-way powered driver’s seat.
Two new colours, Matte Black and Shadow Grey, also join the palette. For many buyers, the fresh shades could be as much of a draw as the extra features.
For prospective customers, the Creta Electric now looks like a more complete package, with a wider choice across the ₹18–24 lakh range. The extra features and longer range do make the higher prices easier to digest, although enthusiasts who wanted the older Smart trims may be disappointed.
