New Delhi: Kia has finally taken the wraps off the second-generation Seltos in India, and the company picked Hyderabad as the stage for its global premiere. I always find it interesting when a carmaker uses India as its world launch hub. It shows how important this market has become, especially for SUVs that people actually buy.
The first Seltos back in 2019, changed the way folks looked at mid-size SUVs in India. The new Seltos comes in with the responsibility of continuing that story, and Kia seems confident about it.
The new Seltos has grown. It now measures 4,460 mm in length and 1,830 mm in width, which makes it one of the longest in its class. The wheelbase sits at 2,690 mm, so rear passengers should get more legroom than before.
You can spot the changes from a distance. Kia has gone for a sharper design language. There are new vertical LED headlamps, a redesigned grille, connected LED tail lamps and 18-inch alloy wheels. Flush-fit door handles replace the older pull-type handles and yes, a panoramic sunroof is now here.
Kia is offering 10 single-tone colours, including fresh options like Magma Red.
Step inside and the first thing that hits you is the massive screen layout. Kia has fitted a 30-inch display setup, basically combining a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital cluster, and a strip screen for climate controls into one long panel.
Features like wireless smartphone connectivity, Bose 8-speaker setup, ambient lighting, ventilated seats and Type-C charging for front and rear passengers are included. The new steering wheel design, flat-bottomed, adds some sportiness.
The luggage area remains practical, and second-row seats fold in case my weekend grocery runs get out of hand.
This is the first Seltos in India to use the brand’s global K3 platform, helping improve rigidity and ride quality. Kia has included 24 standard safety elements. There is also a Level-2 ADAS pack with 21 autonomous features, including lane-keeping and forward collision assist.
Six airbags continue as standard. Electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a rollover sensor are also part of the package.
There are three engines:
• 1.5-litre NA petrol (115PS, 144Nm) • 1.5-litre turbo petrol (160PS, 253Nm) • 1.5-litre diesel (116PS, 250Nm)
Transmission choices include 6MT, 6iMT, IVT, CVT-style options, 7DCT and 6AT depending on the variant.
Trims start with HTE, HTK, HTX, GTX, with extra optional packs including Convenience, Premium, ADAS and X-Line.
Bookings start midnight tonight for ₹25,000. Pricing will be announced on 2 January 2026 and deliveries are set to begin mid-January.
