New Delhi: After the debut of the third-gen Q3 in June, Audi have now unveiled the Q3 Sportback, coming with a much more coupe-like body styling. The new Q3 Sportback is technically much like the regular Q3 SUV except for the sharply raked rear windscreen. Even the powertrain options of mild-hybrid petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid is shared.

The biggest noticeable difference between the Q3 Sportback and the Q3 is that it has a raked roof, which 29 mm lower to give a sportier look. This has given the window pane a little different treatment. The boot space, though, is intact, coming with 488 litres despite the resizing.

Much like the new Q3, the Sportback also comes with a split LED Matrix headlamp setup with large portions of the fascia blacked out to give a good contrast. At the back, it continues with a split tail lamp arrangement and a connecting light bar. It is only from the profile or rear that it distinguishes itself as a Sportback from the standard Q3. The Q3 Sportsback as quite a lot of resemblances to the bigger Audi models like the A6 Avant and Q5.

Inside, it gets the curved panoramic display on the dashboard, comprising a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and an 11.9-inch instrument cluster have been shared as well. The new Q3 has an interesting steering wheel, replacing the traditional stalks and doubles up as the drive selector, which has been carried into the Sportback as well.

Although there are quite a few physical buttons on the centre console, the HVAC controls will be accessed through the touchscreen. The drive selector being absent in the centre console means there’s space for two cupholders and even a wireless phone charging pad.

There is also the 150 bhp and the 360 Nm from the 2.0-litre diesel engine, which comes with a front-wheel drive configuration. There’s also Q3 Sportback PHEV that pairs with a 1.5-litre TFSI with an electric motor, making a combined output of 272 bhp and 400 Nm. It comes with a 25.7 kWh battery with a WLTP-certified electric-only range of 118 km.

The Q3 Sportback will be going on sale in markets overseas in November of this year. At present, Audi in India sells the first-gen Q3 Sportback in India for Rs 56.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Q3 is coming to India in 2026, and the Sportback version might be expected to follow it soon.
