New Delhi: Hero MotorCorp have unveiled the new Glamour X commuter bike in India, bringing cruise control for the first time in the segment at a price of Rs 90,000. For a while, there was a lot of talk about the Glamour X. It comes with some familiar design, though there are some small upgrades to set it apart.
It comes with a much more muscular bodywork and has five colours to put it aside. The Glamour X has a taller black tinted windscreen, though, as an accessory, Hero does offer a shorter one. The handlebars itself is 30mm wider, with the seat now much more spacious than before.
The seat height has now decreased and sits at 790mm, with the ground clearance at 170 mm. Hero also has a little underseat storage for documents or small items. It is, however, the cruise control that has stolen most of the spotlight as Glamour X is the first commuter bike to offer this technology in India, as the most affordable option to do so.
Due to the new ride-by-wire throttle, the Glamour X also has three riding modes (Power, Road and Eco). The top speed is not limited by the modes, but changes the mapping based on the mode that has been selected. With this, it gets an adaptive colour LCD with Bluetooth connectivity.
Further, it has new LED headlights and tail-light design with tail-light taken from the Xtreme 250R. The headlight has an ambient light sensor and will also auto-adjust. Like the Xtreme 250R, the indicators also get a panic brake alert.
It is powered by the Xtreme 125R's 124.7cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 11.5 bhp and 10.5 Nm, and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is suspended through a conventional telescopic front fork and twin shock absorbers at the back. Braking is handled by a 240 mm disc and 130 mm drum. There are no single-channel ABS variants on offer.
Priced at Rs 90,000 for the Drum variant and Rs 1 lakh for the Disc variant (ex-showroom), it is Rs 2,800 more expensive than the Glamour and just Rs 499 Glamour Xtec.
