One of the most important steps in India to operate a vehicle is to register their car. The Registration Certificate (RC) is a crucial document that validates that the vehicle is registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and is necessary for commercial, two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. It is an important document in Uttar Pradesh, as it is across the country.
The documentation attests that the car is registered according to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and is road legal. The certificate contains important details about the vehicle, including chassis number, engine number, vehicle type, registration number, owner’s details, model and manufacturer, etc.
How to check RC status and importance
It showcases that the car is in legal compliance, and owners are following the rules regarding the vehicle. It helps in preventing fines for operating a vehicle after the RC has expired. Further, when buying a second-hand car, the RC status is important to make sure that the car isn’t caught in any legal issues. Even for an insurance claim, a valid RC is required, or else the application will be rejected.

For the offline method, the individual needs to find the RTO closest to them
For RC, the documents required are Form 20, which is an application for vehicle registration. Plus, there has to be a sales certificate, address proof, age proof, insurance certificate, PUC certificate, Pan Card, invoice of the vehicle, Form 21 and Form 22.
