New Delhi: Jeep have given the Meridian a slight update, unveiling it for the Brazilian market, where the seven-seater SUV is sold as Commander. The Jeep Commander has been on sale in the South American market since 2021, before Meridian came to India, and has now been given a mid-life facelift, featuring minor design changes on the outside, along with some minor tweaks on the inside.

The Commander still comes with the same three engine options, all of which are equipped with an automatic gearbox only, unlike the Meridian sold in India, which features a 2.0-litre engine producing 170 bhp and offers both manual and automatic gearbox options. The Commander comes with a 176 bhp producing 1.3-litre turbocharged flex-fuel, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol that makes 272 bhp and a 2.2-litre diesel engine that makes 272 bhp.

The 2026 Commander’s headlights are thicker than the Jeep Meridian sold in India, as well as the 7-slat grille. The headlight units also now feature LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), which were previously located in the bumper. The front bumper and fog light cluster also see some reworking, and there are also new alloy wheel designs that are being offered. Unlike the Meridian, the rear tail-lights are connected with an LED strip, and higher trims also come with dual exhaust pipes.

Like the Indian-spec Meridian, the Commander also comes in five- and seven-seat configurations. Now, though, in Brazil, the five-seat has been discontinued owing to poor demand. Except for the rotary gear selector in the higher-spec variants and changes in upholstery, the interior is more or less the same for the 2026 facelift. The features are the same, including the Level 2 ADAS suite to the 360-degree on the top of the line variant.

Jeep Meridian last year got a little facelift as well, which brought the five-seater trim and later even a variant reorganisation. Jeep India also brought a limited-edition Meridian Trail Edition last month, which cost Rs 48,000 more than the Limited (O) trim upon which it was based. Right now in India, the Meridian falls between Rs 24.99 to Rs 38.79 lakh ex-showroom.
