Kinetic Watts and Volts bring back the DX in EV incarnation

Kinetic DX EV starts at Rs 1.11 lakh, and blends the nostagic design with modern smart technology. It retains the strong body metal and gets a spacious boot of 37-litres.

New Delhi: Kinetic Engineering Ltd. have announced their return in the two-wheeler segment with the unveiling of the all-new Kinetic DX EV, a made-in-India model range through Kinetic Watts and Volts Lts, which is their EV manufacturing subsidiary. Admired by many for its innovation, practicality and silhouette, which is iconic, the DX makes a comeback as an advanced electric scooter. Blending timeless design with modern technology, standing with the spirit of the DX. 

It has been designed by Italian designers in line with the original scooter, making it a perfect family vehicle. The all-new Kinetic DX EV remains true to the roots, coming with a strong metal body, spacious floorboard. It also gets the largest in class 37-litre under-seat storage, having space for one full and one half helmet, along with additional cubby sections that increase the ultimate storage space.

It comes with an LFP battery with 2.6 kWh Maximum capacity, built by Range-X, having four times more life than the NMC battery used by scooters in India, making it a safer option with thermal sensitivity. The battery will be delivering an estimated IDC range of 116 km on the DX+ due to the K-Coast regenerative technology and 60V system for maximum efficiency. It also gets a peppy motor that can go up to 90 kph and has three modes, which are Range, Power and Turbo.

Both models of the Kinetic DX and DX+ come with features like reverse and hill hold. For comfort, there are the telescopic and adjustable rear shock absorbers, with safety kept in check with a 220 mm front disc brake and at the rear, it has a 130 mm drum brake with combi-braking. 

Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, at the launch said, “The legendary Kinetic DX set so many firsts back in the ’90s, that it earned a permanent place in the hearts of millions. Reviving this icon was about more than just launching a scooter; it was about bringing back the reliability, innovation, and robustness that defined Kinetic for decades, giving it a future-ready soul. With the new DX, we’ve introduced multiple segment-first features that we’re confident will make it a favourite in the new era of electric mobility.” He concluded that this was a new chapter for both Kinetic and evolution in terms of electric mobility in India.

The Kinetic DX EV range has a dedicated mobile app, while the DX+ betters the rider experience with advanced Telekinetic features like real-time ride stats and vehicle data, Geo-fencing, intruder alert and the lot. It also gets My Kiney Companion Voice Alerts with the scooter alerting with greetings and alerts the user on safety as well. 

Both variants will be equipped with a Kinetic Assist switch for instant CRM connect through Bluetooth. Features also include music and voice navigation through the built-in speaker.

Bookings are limited to just 35,000 units, and deliveries are going to start in September 2025. Customers can go to the Kinetic EV website and book their DX at Rs 1,000. The Kinetic DX is priced at Rs 1.11 lakh while the DX+ is going to cost Rs 1.17 lakh. The DX comes in only Silver and Black, while the DX+ gets three more colours, which are Red, Blue and White.
