Nissan have given a teaser of their upcoming SUV, the Tekton, which takes a lot of design cues from Nissan's bigger SUV, the Patrol and is expected to come with a petrol powertrain that it will share with the next-gen Renault Duster.

New Delhi: Nissan India have given another look at their upcoming Hyundai Creta rival and even revealed its name. The C-SUV is going to be called Nissan Tekton, which in Greek means “craftsman” or “architect” and is expected to arrive in the middle of 2026. Thus far, the Japanese brand have given hints and teasers of the Tekton exterior design and a few interior as well.

Nissan’s senior design director Ken Lee has said that the design of the Tekton has been inspired largely by the bigger Patrol. A little modified version of the larger SUV grille, the character lines and C-shaped design are all hints of Nissan’s bigger cousin, and the Tekton is just said compressed version of the Patrol.

The LED headlights and tail-light units are connected across the width of the Tekton and form a C-shaped motif, much like the Patrol. The flared wheel arches that come with the multi-spoke alloy wheels take cues from the smaller Magnite.

Tekton lettering is mounted at the front, with the sculpted and scooped bonnet flowing all the way down to the grille. A distinctive silver air intake-like design elements can be found on the front doors, right above the front fender, with the front and rear bumpers getting a dual-tone black and silver finish. It comes with a roof-mounted rear spoiler, which is quite sporty to look at and is highlighted in the upright tailgate.

On the inside, Nissan are yet to give the exclusive details, but it can be seen that the SUV gets a triple-tone finish, soft-touch material on the top of the dash, and the rest of the dashboard gets a glossy black finish. It sits in contrast to the copper-colour strip that runs from the infotainment screen in the centre to the side AC vents.

Nissan are also mum on the powertrain, though it is expected to come only as a petrol-line. The upcoming Renault Duster is based on the same platform and is expected to share engines with the Nissan counterpart in the Indian market and some selected export markets.
