Porsche has introduced the Cayenne Electric lineup in India with prices starting at ₹1.75 crore. The Turbo Electric variant delivers 1140bhp, a 642 km range and a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 2.5 seconds. Bookings have opened across India as Porsche expands its premium EV lineup.

India gets the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric beast with 1140bhp performance

New Delhi: Porsche has finally taken the wraps off the Cayenne Electric lineup, and I’ll admit, seeing those numbers made me blink twice. An electric SUV making up to 1,140bhp sounds like something cooked up in a gaming rig, not something you and I might actually see rolling down the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. But here it is. And Porsche is wasting no time opening bookings in India at ₹1.75 crore for the standard model and ₹2.25 crore for the Turbo.

I have driven the previous-gen petrol Cayennes on long highway runs, and they’ve always felt confident and calm even at high speeds. Thinking about that same experience now paired with instant electric torque feels surreal. Porsche claims the Cayenne Electric can manage 642 km on a full charge, which might finally ease that range anxiety many folks still talk about.

Design and Aerodynamics

The company has kept the familiar SUV stance but sharpened a lot of the surfaces. The bonnet sits lower, the LED headlamps look slimmer, and the roofline drops smoothly towards the back. Porsche calls the drag coefficient 0.25, supported by active cooling flaps and adaptive spoilers. I know some purists may miss the old muscular front, but the sleeker look helps stretch that range on long trips.

The SUV gets frameless doors and revised wheel arch elements. It looks more planted than the earlier generation, almost like the designers wanted it to resemble a high-performance EV rather than just an electric version of a petrol car.

Cabin Space and Tech Features

The longer wheelbase helps open up more space inside. I find this especially important for Indian families who travel with half their home packed in the boot. Porsche says the rear seats offer electric adjustment and better legroom. Boot space ranges between 781 and 1,588 litres, and there’s a 90-litre storage space under the bonnet.

The interior uses an OLED Flow Display in the centre along with a digital cluster and an optional passenger screen. An augmented reality head-up display makes its debut in the Cayenne range. There are customisable lighting and climate presets called mood modes, something that sounds gimmicky at first but can be handy for long night drives.

Owners can unlock and start the SUV using a phone or smartwatch with the digital key system. Porsche’s AI-based Voice Pilot responds to natural commands and pulls up apps through the Porsche App Centre.

Power, Range and Charging

The Cayenne Electric comes in two variants. The standard one and the more aggressive Turbo Electric. The Turbo puts out up to 1,140bhp and 1,500Nm with Launch Control. Top speed is claimed at 260 km/h. Both models use Porsche’s PTM all-wheel-drive setup that spreads torque across the wheels based on grip.

The 113 kWh battery uses double-sided cooling and supports 800-volt charging. Porsche claims a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 16 minutes through a 400 kW DC fast charger. There’s wireless inductive charging at 11 kW for home or office use. This looks promising for Indian buyers thinking about switching from ICE to EV but worried about downtime.

India Availability and Pricing

Porsche India has listed prices starting at ₹1.75 crore for the base model and ₹2.25 crore for the Turbo. Bookings have opened. The electric Cayenne will be sold alongside petrol and hybrid variants.

For Porsche enthusiasts, this launch marks a shift. Porsche is not just bringing a global EV but also preparing Indian buyers for what high-performance electric SUVs will look like in the next few years. If this is the starting point, the segment is about to get very interesting.
